carCarl T. Bertram, PharmD, MS, MBA, is a senior pharmacy executive with broad experience across pharmacy benefit management (PBM), specialty, health plan, retail, and health system pharmacy. He is committed to advancing patient/member-focused pharmacy solutions that improve affordability and measurable outcomes. He brings together expertise in the pharmaceutical supply chain, clinical and PBM services, analytics, business development, and technology, with a strong business acumen.
Carl’s expertise includes value proposition development, leadership in product, operational, organizational, and data insights. He is known for building growth-oriented organizations and scaling managed care and specialty pharmacy businesses during periods of rapid growth and complex transformation. Carl has led the development of innovative pharmacy service models and holds seven U.S. patents.
Carl earned his Doctor of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degrees from the University of South Carolina, an MBA from Northern Illinois University, and an MS in Health Informatics (Health Data Science) from the University of Illinois Chicago. He has served on national advisory boards and contributed to industry publications and presentations on topics including managed and specialty pharmacy, medication adherence, prior authorization, and pharmacoeconomics. Carl is one of seven pharmacists in his family, and outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, Chicago sports teams, vegetable/herb gardening, and traveling and attending live music events with his wife.
